Community Information Detection Tool (CIDT)
In response to the mental health access gap in low- and middle-income country settings, our team co-developed CIDT as a vignette-based method of proactive case detection that encourages help seeking among persons with depression, psychosis, alcohol use disorder, and epilepsy. Utilized by trained community workers, the tool facilitates recognition of those who potentially experience these mental health conditions and direction toward appropriate care. As a low-cost, culturally adaptable alternative to universal screening, it continues to foster uptake of services by vulnerable persons in need.
